$5.1m raised and Australia is shining brighter since the 2023 Speedo Starlight Super Swim Challenge!

February 2023, saw the Starlight Children’s Foundation run its fifth annual SpeedoSuper Swim Challenge, urging Australians to take the pledge and swim for a good cause. The challenge raises funds for Starlight’s essential hospital services, includingCaptain StarlightStarlight Express Roomsacross the country, as well as its communitywishgranting program. This year’s event broke all previous records, with a staggering 13,698 participants signing up and completing the challenge, covering a combined distance of 372,603 kilometres. The collective effort raised over $5.1 million dollars for the Starlight Foundation, which will help over 130,000 sick kids and their families. Additionally, 25 Speedo ambassadors were part of the Team Speedo team and played a part in helping to exceed last years $2.6m efforts. Together these superhero athletes raised a total of $8,651 of the $32,912 raised by the team!!

This year, Speedo joined forces with Oceanswims.com to share valuable tips from some of our Speedo’s Starlight Super Swim Ambassadors. The tips cover a range of topics including, open water and surf swimming strategies, ways to manage strokes in challenging surf conditions and even body surfing techniques. The ambassadors featured include Ariarne Titmus, Cory Taylor, Lani Pallister, Tommy Gallagher, Joe Collins and Sam Short. To learn more about these superhero tips, visitOceanswims.com.

Although the February 2023 Starlight Super Swim challenge has come to an end, it’s never too early to start preparing for the 2024 challenge. So, keep those Speedos and superhero capes handy!

The Starlight Children’s Foundation is a charitable organisation that aims to bring happiness and positivity to children and young individuals who are suffering from serious illnesses and are hospitalised. The foundation strives to replace negative emotions such as pain, fear and stress with positive ones like joy, fun and laughter. Since its inception in 1988, the Starlight Foundation has grown to become the most extensive children’s charity in Australia, and in 2021, it was recognised as the most reputable children’s charity in the Reptrak Charity Reputation Index. The foundation has established Starlight Express Rooms in all major children’s hospitals across the country, and it has 176 Captain Starlight’s nationwide. In the year 2021, Starlight granted over 300,000 positive experiences to children, teenagers and their families, and almost 800,000 Fun with Captain Starlight experiences.
