Team Speedo's Andy Donaldson has just recently completed his sixth swim out seven in the Oceans Seven Challenge, the 32km Catalina Channel, where he faced physical and mental challenges but found the strength to persevere. Join us as we recount his inspiring story of determination and support!

Despite being unwell leading up to the swim, Andrew Donaldson courageously embarked on the Catalina Channel, determined to push his limits. However, as the hours passed the challenges mounted. Andrew found himself grappling with his mental health, making each stroke a struggle. It seemed as though the waves were crashing not only around him but within him.

Amidst the difficulties, Andy was captivated by the enchanting night sky. He later described the experience as "a dream out there", as the starry backdrop transported him to another realm. In those moments, he found solace and a renewed sense of purpose, reminding himself of the beauty that lays beyond the turmoil.

As Donaldson continued his swim in his Speedo briefs and his Speedsocket 2 Goggles, he encountered cross currents that posed a formidable obstacle to his progress. His pace suffered, falling far below his usual standards. Frustration set in, and his spirits dropped as he questioned his ability to make it to the end. The mental and physical exhaustion threatened to overpower him.

In his darkest moments, Andrew discovered an unwavering source of strength, his team. They never left his side, offering support and encouragement every step of the way. Their infectious enthusiasm lifted him up when he had nothing left to give. Andy realised that he was never alone in his journey, and the collective efforts of his crew became the guiding light that led him forward.

Andrew Donaldson's achievements go beyond personal triumphs. With his completion of the Catalina Channel, he not only secured his sixth out of the seven swims in the Oceans Seven Challenges but also claimed a new British Record. His remarkable time of 9 hours and 22 minutes sets a new benchmark for future swimmers to aspire to.

As we applaud Andrew's achievements, let us not forget the purpose behind his incredible efforts. He continuously breaks his own mental barriers to raise awareness and funds for the Black Dog Institute, a clause close to his heart. So far, he has raised an impressive $32,188 out of his $100,000 goal. To support Andrew's mission and make a donation, please visit https://www.teamblackdog.org.au/fundraisers/oceansseven
