Runner

Blake Hose

"I started running because I wanted to be in the mountains and see new places. Whilst I love the competitive aspect, at the core, the environment and the experiences are what motivate me most."

There’s no doubt he is one of the best in the business, but you’ll be inspired by more than just his running ability when you venture onto the trails with Blake Hose.

He loves the outdoors and nature as most trail runners do, but Blake’s extensive knowledge on all things wild makes his love affair far superior to the average. No plant, animal species or bird call will go unidentified on a trail run, and if you’re interested, Blake will happily explain the role each living organism plays in its environment, as well as its threats and what we can do to protect it.

When he’s not bounding down the beautiful trails in his hometown of Bright, Victoria, Blake works in the conservation space. His dedication to his career as an ecologist, paired with his passion for running, are what make him one of the most inspirational trail run athletes in Australia.

Blake started his professional sporting career as a triathlete, before spending five years as a competitive cyclist. When his love for two wheels began to wane, he made the transition to trail running and was winning races within a year. Since then, he has competed across the globe at events including Skyrunning World Champs, UTMB and Transvulcania.

Blake is a valued member of the trail running community, and the guy you’ll get a wave and g’day from every time you cross paths. While he loves competing at events on both a local and international scale, Blake equally enjoys connecting with the likeminded folks he meets along the way.

On most days you’ll catch Blake trying to keep up with his running partner Walter, a Weimaraner who is rumoured to be faster than him. A little on the slower side is Blake’s 16-year-old pet snake Otis, who is loved equally despite his inability to descend a trail in 5th gear.

“The mountains are really my happy place. When I am in the mountains all my other cares and worries seem to not matter and I feel completely relaxed. What excites me most about skiing is that there are no rules. There's no right and wrong way to ski down a mountain, you just do what feels best for you.”
